The Euphemism of the Day, by Natalie
|
Taking things for granted,
One petal at a time.
Eventually they fold,
They wither to the ground.
One by one they fall,
Some fast, some slow
Some in between.
Except for one.
It decides to stop
And I can tell it wants to talk.
And yes, I ask it "why?"
I have no say in the matter.
Thus I let it pass me by.
Yet on days I can remember
And almost every night,
I yearn for the answer,
I yearn for the sight,
Of days to come
And days I'd rather not know.
Though like and dislike are linked together.
Opposites attract and group,
And mate,
And make mistakes,
Such things deemed not so subtle.
I wish I could say I was from a distant planet,
But that would be a lie.
Making me a liar.
I am only human,
Such things are far above
My head, your head,
The world
And are better left unsaid. |
