Mist, by bedazzled Subscribe to rss feed for bedazzled

Tangled for a second,
Underwater,
Give me air.
Light filters through the ripples,
Flickers over my face.
I can see the sun,
Pooling in glossy bubbles on the surface,
I feel the weight hum and know,
It's my choice.
Desperate panic crashes through me,
In a moment I unfreeze,
I start to struggle.
The water slows each frenzied kick,
Each angry scooping arm,
Until I break the mirror with a lunge,
And gasp in determination.
I remember what it is to breathe,
Flicking my head side to side,
Disbelief fills me,
The water glitters innocently.
I sigh, turning onto my back,
Letting the tide pull me in,
Her name hides among the punching waves,
Dissolves into a mist.

There you are,
Waiting, patiently,
Like you knew I would come back.
The sky spreads from you,
Echoes with your smile.
You wrap firm arms around my waist,
Warm against my cold, damp skin.
Your feet press the sand underfoot,
It's irrelevant now,
Packed down, lost, buried.
I feel it in your kiss,
And I hear it as it heats me,
As whispered words in your eyes.
I am now,
We are now,
The elements can only try.
A fleeting wonder questions,
If she lingers on your name,
If she see's it in the clouds,
The castles in the sky.
And if you saw the knife,
Or just her words that it carved,
Into the rocky shores,
As you carry me away.
