Annihilate

Drenched in acid rain,
the city of agony
paves the way for pain.
Scattered debris
pours down from the
glowering sky onto me.
Why must we all
be blind and naive?
Why answer the call
of doom and despair?
We annihilate our mortal
brothers; we don't care
for misguided souls
or future generations.
Our main goals
are to kill inocent
people, destroy our
neighbors without repent,
steal from the poor
without pity.
This disaster called "war"--
why must we let
it feed on genocide and
bury us in debt?
As a flame grows
and expands,
slays and swallows,
so does this monster
we've created.
Don't we ever wonder
why the tragedies
repeat themselves?
Why the world bleeds?
Why must the path
of our future
be paved with wrath
and the mistakes
of our ancestors?
How much time does it take
for us to learn
from our errors?
The fire will burn
until someone puts it
out. But if we help
the fire, bit by bit,
our entire Earth
will be demolished.
