Who will replace me?, by Firec

If I were to die today
who would be there to say
What a nice girl and such good friend?
Too bad she came to such an unfortunate end.
Who would go to the funeral
and laugh with approval?
Or cry and miss me
or wish you had kissed me?
What color would my casket be?
and what clothes would they put on me?
What songs would be played
and pictures displayed?
Would there be any stories
of how I fought my disease?
Or would everyone just shake their heads
while my mother sits there and rips a flower to shreds.
Who would speak of my ways?
Of being with me on long hot summer days?
Would they remember the long laughs we had?
or recall the times when I still had a dad?
I mostly wonder just one thing,
not what times ahead may bring
but more about who it will be.
Who will be the one that will replace me? |

awe...This is a sad poem, but you know something? I have thought the very same words as are in this poem. I remember my pastor once telling me something that stuck with me for many years. It is this: "We write our own obituary each day that we live. So when we live our lives it might be a good thing for others to think about it as it has never left me what he said... I have made mistakes that's a fact, but I did not forget my Pastor's words, and they are true! but about your poem.. who can take your place. I would say No one can take your place, no one can take anyone else's place for it seems right that when God gave us our life place, and once our Life is gone...that life place goes with us and so does our works/deeds. |
