Proud To Be A Woman, by itty bitty
|
In honor of women's history month, I guess...
Men couldn’t stand us
They wanted us hidden
Within the shadows of ours houses
The dust and the grime
The workplace just wasn’t a place
For a woman
A treasured dime-piece
We kept the rooms tidy
The children were fed
Well, without our respect
We’re better off dead
Caught up in our chores
We were lifeless
Just dolls
But something gave us life
To the sun
We crawled for freedom
And we rose to the top
Just like liberty intended
We are heroes
Just like you
And we only ask for your respect
Dear husbands and sons
Uncles and cousins
Believe me when I say
We are free, we are women
And we are here
No longer shadowed
By the dust and the grime
No workplace is seen
Without a woman in line
I think she meant it
Ole’ liberty bell
When she said
All men created equal
Men, women and children |
