Beneath the surface, by hanah
|
Look inside me, deep within,
Past the cover, the mannequin.
See the smile that's painted on,
See the face that hides what's gone.
See the pain behind these eyes,
See the face that lives the lies,
The pretences that hide what is real,
Showing noone how I really feel.
See the mask that's just for show,
That hides the me you'll never know.
I've lived a life that isn't true,
Covering up is what I do.
See why I don't let anyone in,
See the shame kept deep within.
Where one lie starts another ends,
Even my friends aren't real friends.
My life is an exhibit for all to see,
Mistakes are made, but that's just me.
None of it's real, it's not really there,
You don't know me, so why should you care? |
