The Things You Show The World

By itty bitty •
Everyone has a secret
Everyone has a fear
So, when you see
Someone like me
You see it in their eyes
The things they show the world, today
Are mostly, always lies
There's a 13 year old 8th grader that I know, who's one of the most popular people you could meet. She shows the world what she's about, in a smile, in a laugh.
Her secret?
Her "first time" really wasn't all that enjoyable... It was with someone she loved, but she didn't like it in the least...
Everyone has a secret
Everyone has a fear
So, when you see
Someone like me
You see the way they laugh
The things they show the world, today
Are most on our behalf
There's another 13 year old 8th grader that I know, who can get along with everyone. He wears his heart on his sleeve and he knows just what you're about. Without you even telling him.
His secret?
His first girlfriend only dated him for his money, being a drag race champion. She dumped him when he lost. He's afraid to get hurt again...
Everyone has a secret
Everyone has a fear
So, when you see
Someone like me
You see the way they move
The things they show the world, today
Have nothing more to prove
There's this 14 year old 8th grader that I know, who doesn't care what people think. She can read your eyes, your lips, emotions, and you know it all the same. She won't say anything about it, she will always let you be. And, did you, the reader, ever think, that that girl could be me?
My secret?
I think I'm too small, I'm not pretty enough, I have no special talent, even when you say different. You may think I don't care, but I take your words to heart, and you never see me cry beyond these molten, chartreuse eyes. And, you want to know what, another secret I have. This was written-
TWO YEARS AGO
When, of course, I cared, I was young back that. I still ain't popular, so what? I do what I can. I'm small, yea, it's true, and I'm still not the prettiest girl you'll meet. Too good, he likes me for me. And, of course, I still take your words to heart, and these green eyes never cry before you, but I have just one more secret to share tonight...
Everyone has a secret
Everyone has a fear
So, when you see
Someone like me
You listen to them well
Because
They might not be pretty
They might not be smart
They might not have the silver, or the plated gold heart
They might not be strong
Or skinny, or tall
But, the things they show the world, today...
The things the world sees of you, today...
Let me tell you, they don't care at all
