The D.A.'s Song, by J-Hood
|
Guilty he called me,
so my freedom ceased.
Now I'm living
in the belly of the beast.
Guilty he said
so I feel degraded.
I've got a new status,
it's called incarcerated.
I had better agree
to the guilty plea
while the D.A. offers me
one and a half to three.
If I let this chance pass
his song will change
to a six to twelve --
isn't that strange?
It really matters not
if I committed the crime
because if I blow trial,
he will triple the time.
Some say it's the mayor
or the crooked police.
Maybe I've spent too much time
hanging out in the street,
but because I'm the type
who likes to get paid,
I better use this time
to learn me a trade.
You're guilty until proven innocent,
that's not the way it should be.
I will never understand this corrupt system,
not even at the age 103.
You're guilty until proven innocent,
so you've got to stay strong,
whenever your freedom
is at the mercy of the D.A.'s song.

great poem! very welll done... have you had the incident to be a reality for you? You write as though you may have.I think this last few lines are probable truth in today's society and justice.
(You're guilty until proven innocent,
so you've got to stay strong,
whenever your freedom
is at the mercy of the D.A.'s song.)... seems to be true, but then again...they say justice is blind.God's justice is not blind though! Love Glo
