I am But a Woman, by Lisa Rodriguez
|
Were I only Venus I would soon
let none but good into your mortal life.
And if I were the goddess of the moon,
Diana herself would be no better wife.
If I were wise as Pallas Athena then
I'd tell you all the answers--why and how.
This power would not lead to other men.
My heart would be as constant then as now.
I'd cherish so the touch of happiness--
to solve all sorrow in your life with love.
To smooth your worried brow with one caress.
My heart is strong and true, but not enough.
For I am but a woman--undivine
And cannot prove a passion profound as mine.
