Nymph's Reply to the Shepheard, by sharonrenee

*a reply to Christopher Marlow's poem- The Passionate
Shepheard to his Love
Thy love to me you’ll have to prove
And all the things you say are true
This life of mine I can not waste
On shallow lover’s lustful face
And all the promised gifts and toys
I can’t accept with eager poise
For all my love you can not buy
With beds of rose or endless sky
This pretty face that is disease
It brings all men on bended knee
And non of them can see me through
They feel not love, and nor do you
But if you show thy love is pure
By change’ed face you would not stir
And prove it to thy gods above
I’ll live with thee and by thy love
