I've wanted a dog for so long.
Someone - or rather, something - to keep
Me company during long nights.
I begged and begged.
Still. Nothing, those parents of mine.
They are ever so nice.
But when it came to a dog, they wouldn't give in.
Not to a cute little Yorkie, not to a huge Newfie.
For years I did this.
For years I tried.
Then. One faithful day.
My aunt's friend's dog had puppies!
Cute little Yellow Labs, for a bargain.
She called up my mom.
Asked if we wanted one,
Since I loved hers so.
My parents said yes, and in a few short weeks
I would have a puppy.
We looked and looked,
For the perfect name.
Hurricane, Pogo, Danger,
None of them seemed to fit him,
Or us.
Then, an idea, from my dear father.
Diesel, he said.
It stuck like glue.
Now I don't sleep alone.
Never am I lonesome at home.
He's such a stupid dog.
That Diesel of mine.
Chasing his tail,
Digging in the yard.
Now Seven months old.
Mine, forever |
