Mascara Eyes, by bedazzled Subscribe to rss feed for bedazzled

Mascara eyes of deceit,
how they lie to you
whilst the poison of guilt
corrodes my bones
and through the pain,
I smile.

  You don't see me,
  do you?

I am just straightened hair
and powdered skin,
just the reflection of your hopes.
That girl is just a doll
but me...

I am daggered words
and forged footsteps,
I am prisoner to my heart.

  And you don't know,
  do you?

I am muted,
there's no volume
in the blank light of pretend
for to speak would be to bleed
without your tourniquet.

  And you don't listen,
  do you?

This secret falls in storms
from deep inside
for I am not one
but two,
incomplete and fracturing
in the torturous days, weeks,
where I wait to hear his voice,
to have him inside of me again.

  And you don't realise,
  do you?

No.

I am just gold jewellery,
just painted nails,
oh I am just
mascara eyes.

I really love this. It describes a lot of girls. Put together, but falling apart. Amazing words, also. Better than a lot on this site.
