He is the Gem, I am the Coal, by Cadence V. Leigh Subscribe to rss feed for Cadence V. Leigh

He is the gleaming gem
I am the lowly coal
The sufferings I undergo today mean nothing
Because the beginnings of a precious stone
Is surfacing
The longer the pressure is on me
The brighter I shall become
And one day, I will emerge
Head and shoulders above all
To present my gleaming body
To the rest of the world

Then, you will eat your words
And you shall be ashamed of your actions
You must learn to regret the unfairness
Dealt to me these many years
And I will look down on you and say
Thanks
Because if it wasn’t for the unfairness
I had to withstand and endure
I would not be the success I am today
And I will turn my head and stalk off

Even the dirtiest and lowliest of all servants
The coal
Will one day turn into diamonds
So all you coals out there
Being subjected to morons of the world
Take heart
Because you will one day become diamonds
Sparkling, shimmering and valued by all
Then you must thank those
Who’s been mean to you

Because if it’s not for the strength
You had to gain suffering
You would not learn to endure
You would not know the pain of the transformation
From a lowly being into a magnificent one
You must then learn to appreciate all things good
Remember the hurts you have been through
Then put all these knowledge into action
And ensure that you are always kind, just and wise
In relating to others

Share with them this formula
Of endurance and perseverance
So that the next generation of coals will take heart
And put their everything in whatever thy do
Whether or not anyone notices
Whether or not people criticize
They must endure and emerge the best
And not stop till they achieve their individual aims

Stand right back up on your own when you fall
Love when no one cares
Be patient when the process seems slow
even if you have to cry yourself to sleep every night
Continue to persevere and move on
Cos all the suffering will come to pass
Someday, somehow
So long as you put your best
Cos the gentle and the loving shall be rewarded
