One man's decision, by Simply-Me-20104
|
It was early in the morning
She was on her way to school
And then she lost her life
All because of some dumb fool
It was proved he'd been drinking
Before he got into his car
When the tardy bell had rang
I was wondering where you are
But little did I know
On the corner of main and eleven
That man had sent my best friend
To a place that we call heaven
We'd been texting all morning
And you were almost there
They pulled me out of class
This whole thing wasn't fair
They said she had her seat belt on
With the radio turned down low
Ready for a brand new day
But little did she know
I went to the scene
And saw the mangled jeep
On the news they showed the man
Walking on his own two feet
He had tears in his eyes
He hadn't noticed the red light
The alcohol had messed him up
And her jeep came out of sight
He cried out his apologies
Was cuffed and put in the car
But it was already too late
For any of that, by far
In an instant, one man's decision
Had taken her away
They keep her desk, a memorial
Even to this very day
When you chose to drink and drive
It might not be your life at risk
But before you leave that party, think
Would you want to live with this?
