madness, by safe_passage

madness
grieving, she weeps openly
leaving no room for self
with heart broken in pieces
she will find no solace here
crawling in the darkness
no light to guide her
cold stone for comfort
peace a thing of the past
wails of pain in the dark
outrage at what she has done
hurtful words flung in anger
circling like bats around her head
she hears nothing else
the barbs sink deeper with time
eating away the old remnants of peace
gnawing at her soul
her mind fails her
madness clings to her like dust
powdery and soft
but she is unable to remove it
soft and sensuous
it grows with each day
driving her forward
seeking a peace that no longer exists
it is a word only
a thing of fiction
a dream lost
madness has taken hold
