Tightropes

By bedazzled

I walk tightropes to get away from your words and to my surprise, there aren't any earthquakes. In fact, you balance unsteadily in your corner where I am able to bounce. The rope may be frayed, my heart may be raw but I walk, I stumble but never fall. You didn't expect that, did you? You, with the whites of your eyes glowing from under the shadows. Today you began to follow me, to retrace each painful step I'd taken. You shattered the glass wall of silence with your words. I swayed and reached for you to stable myself. I needed you to know I want you to be happy, I just don't think I can ever forgive you. You didn't expect that, did you? I kept on going, just left you behind, goodbye now I walk tightropes.
