Flood, by Faith
|
Here
in this
shimmering
light
I close my eyes
images
burned
on the back
of my eyelids
I feel full to bursting
with emotions
so formidable
blazing
they draw blood,
sweat,
tears
I allow them in
like a dam
bursting
everything is swept away
and swept up
I am
transported
there is no room left now,
every crevice
and
crack
filled beyond capacity,
beyond measure,
until I am
driven
below
the
surface
drowning in sunlight
I can
no
longer
breathe
for I am not breathing air
anymore

This poem is very well written, and i really get the emotions you are trying to convey with being drained and feeling empty. Well done! |
