He says she loved me

He says I have her laugh He says I have her eyes That I act just like she did And hold myself with pride He says I have her brains And the color of her hair With all my spiral curls And just like hers, it's fair He says the I remind him Of her, when I smile With the shape of my lips Every once in awhile He says I have her humor And he says I have her nose He says that she would have Loved to paint my toes She would have fixed my hair And done my make-up too And driven me to dance class Everyday after school He says that she would have Been a great mom to me Did everything she could All I needed her to be But all I can remember Is being Daddy's Girl For when I was really small She was taken from this world It wasn't her time to go She was healthy and young Although she fought her best She was no match for the gun The man took all he wanted And ran out the door When Daddy got home he found Her body on the floor He says that she had style He says that she had flare But I have no one to shop with Or to even do my hair To help me pick a dress out And send me off to prom Never had those little things You only get with mom So cherish all the small things That I may have lacked Because my mom was taken With one man's dumb act Dad says I'm everything she was And he sees it everyday I know she's watching over me And I'll get to meet her someday 7-4-2008 ~I kind of wanted to quickly clarify that this poem isn't a story of my own, but I'm sure there are many people out there who can relate! It was actaully inspired by the death of my cousin who left behind a young son. Hope you still liked it!~

It would be hard to imagine a life without all those things... especially being close to ones' Mom, as I am.
