Autumn, by Lunaria

Autumn
Tis the season before winter cold
When nature turns to red and gold
The green lush grass stops growing
Right before it starts snowing
I love the season of different hues
When I can still walk without my shoes
When we can roast around the fire
And heavy clothes we don't require
When the harvest moon brightly shines
When Mars and Jupiter combines
And all is at last quiet in the night
Everything in heaven and earth is right
This is the season I love the best
Right before nature takes a rest
And goes to sleep for a long winter night
When all of earth becomes all white
For then it is very, very cold
And there is no more red and gold
But sparkling white all across the land
In spite of the cold it looks so very grand
Then is when I wear my winter white
The cold wind my tender cheek does bite
My black fur boots come up to my knees
So my bare legs and feet don't freeze
I play in this winter wonderland of white
I try to stay warm with all my might
But my favorite season comes before this
When nothing in the earth is amiss.
