That which seemed so certain
seeps into the walls.
You don't see my shadow
disappear as it joins me;
 I am dark now.
   I remember something golden
that was fuel inside my pulse,
   something akin to sunshine
that mapped new smiles on young skin.
 Maybe your love expired.
A trapped bird, I just flutter,
slamming against the windows.
 A black feather here,
 a black feather there.
Broken wings now, broken song.
But you just switch on the computer,
   pixel colours across your face.
   Hello? Can you see me?
I guess not.
Strange, how you don't even notice
the navy creep into my eyes.
Are you OK? You ask me
 but the mask hushes that.
You don't touch me,
I'm just
        there.
Had I known, maybe my love wouldn't be permanent.
  But your eyes said forever,
I didn't know about their lime lies.
You don't want me anymore,
do you?
The sunshine steals away,
somehow the gold rusts.
