The Old Man and his granddaughter, by papaya
|
There was an old man
Waiting under a tree with a cigar on the tip of his finger
He sat there for hours
just to wait for his granddaughter to finsh her school
He dared not leave the tree even for a moment
for caring too much for his granddaughter
She was in her class studying
but from time to time she would peek out of the greeasy
window and look for him
If she couldn't see her grandpa's shadow, she would cry as
if the sky was falling down
The poor old man spent whole day under a huge bayan tree
sitting, standing and smoking... just to keep his
granddaughter company..
The girl who once couldn't stay a minute at school without
her grandpa's reflection, is now studying thousands miles
away from home
The old man would be proud of her
The old man would be happy for her
Last night, the old man was gone
He will never come back to this world
On his journey to heaven
His lovely granddaughter could not keep him company until
he got on the boat
What the heck is she doing????
She is on the other side of the world
busy schooling which she hated most once....
She doesn't know what to do
but she is saying a prayer for him
And she whispers
"I love you more than I ever thought, Ah Khone!"
