Wooden Glen, by *****ELIZABETH*****
|
To me, you’re dead.
The funeral’s today.
Dressed in black from toe to head -
Our love has gone away.
Thank you for ending
your non-committal part in our affiliation.
All it did was make for pretending
and left me longing for some appreciation.
Our love was doomed from the start.
It didn’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell!
The games you played with my heart
were deliberate as far as I can tell…
You said you couldn’t be my everything…
but everything is what you expected me to be!
With you, there was no giving, just taking.
Despite my trying to explain, you would never see!
You never picked up your phone.
and sometimes didn’t answer the door.
You didn’t care that I was alone!
I don’t know what I was hoping for.
Nothing ventured – nothing gained --
my mantra for the years wasted on you.
Nothing worthwhile – nothing but pain --
And in the end for nothing was much ado.
