Claimed by Death

By Invisible Poet

You get told about it all your life It happens every day The word is sharper than a knife You can’t keep the thought at bay He was here and now he’s gone Claimed by the thing they call death His life was long but now it’s done Claimed by the thing they call death From the time you are born your set You wake up in the night and reach for his side of the bed When you dream, you’re soaked with sweat Then you realize he is dead He was here and now he’s gone Claimed by the thing they call death His life was long but now it’s done Claimed by the thing they call death You think no one notices you Don’t leave me all alone I notice the things you do I’ll notice when you’re gone Don’t be claimed by the thing they call death I’ll notice when you’re gone Don’t be claimed by the thing they call death Your life is long and far from done.
