i hate the fact that im black.
because they think that every black man, women, and child
should be forced to pick cotton even if it is from an advil
bottle.
i hate the fact that im black.
because every black man thinks the only way of getting out
of the hood is making a orange ball threw a hoop.
i hate the fact that im black.
because i have to push myself 10 times harder than all the
other kids in the school just to prove my stereotype wrong.
i hate the fact the im black.
because my hair can never be touched by a high fashion hair
stylist because my hair is to nappy to be combed through.
i hate the fact that im black.
because not one black man will look into my eyes and tell me
they love me because they think every black women is
bitter.
i hate the fact that im black.
because my ignorant brother wont dare to put on a condom
even when society threw aids at them.
i hate the fact that im black.
because even though they say rascism is gone it is still
here and it is alive.
i hate the fact that i am black.
because every man, woman, and child i have ever known died
along time ago, inside my mind, and now i have to realize that
hopes and dreams only come to those certain people.
i love the fact that im black.
because every black man that could'nt tell me they loved me
made me stronger,
because every store manager that followed me around made me
wiser,
every hair stylist who told me my hair was nappy made me
aware,
of what might come.
my culture doesnt define who i am on the inside.
i decide who i am.

It's a beautiful poem, but so sad at the same time, that people don't trust you because of your race, that's so wrong. Still love how you expressed yourself. |
