A gift..., by suzieQ
|
With a gift in hand you waited
or so, with hope, I thought
but my hope was quickly gated
for only two days of time, I bought
Your gift was a single piece of paper
so small and folded tight
if I read this, I'd solve this caper
which just darkened my moode, so light
Your words they speak a story
a story of struggle and pain
a story to which there was no glory
for your love was only feigned
The words 'I love you' tend to mean
a great deal more than your childhood lies
you said them, just like a dream
but now you are saying goodbye
I don't blame you, now I truly set you free
I told you I would still love you
And I still do, but here is my plee
Have meaning in anything you say or do
