Childhood, by suzieQ
|
I lay on my childhood bed
The one where my feet stick out the end
I remember-what I said
And what I used to pretend
My day dreams of a prince
Someone to sweep me off my feet
I awaited anyone who could convince
me to take that destined leap
Now, ten years down the road
I lay remembering a love, a bud
And then remember that funny toad
My instant-prince-charming dud
Dreams are not what we expect
We do not always get the royalty
But someone anything but perfect
Someone thats just not a right fit-for me
At 18, I am legally grown up
But my mind has always lingered here
In my room where I was a spritely puck
Where in make believe, there was no such thing as Fear
So be gone, you loves of the past
Be gone you exams, you horrid responsibilities
This weekend, I free as long as the pumpkin lasts
And I shall dance among the trees
