Ball&Chain, by Invisible Poet Subscribe to rss feed for Invisible Poet

always near, never far
the clanking of the chain links across the floor
never allowing you to be apart
waiting outside your door

a heaviness always weighing you down
no more than animated dead weight
you were living within a chainmail gown
a piece of metal seething with hate

you are being pulled to the bottom
by a pulsing metal mass
a piece of living weight decaying and rotten
use this weight to shatter the glass

that is holding you away
and when this deceitful one is slain
you can look inot my eyes every day
now that you are rid of your ball and chain
