Lullaby, by Invisible Poet Subscribe to rss feed for Invisible Poet

your head against the pillow
your breath against my chest
to the world of dreams we go
a world where we are only guest

your heart against my own
your shoulders within my grasp
to unconciousness you have flown
held safely within my clasp

as we are ushered into the dreams
we are greeted by emotions so full
they are snapping at the seams
a ship bursting out of its hull

you sleep upon a cloud of foam
safely in your castle under the cover
your mind set free to roam
within the haze of reality we hover

i am singing you to sleep
with a smile upon my face
your laughter i will forever keep
held close to the warmest place

shifting with unease
your body begins to stir
when you realize my words cease
and how things were

only moments before you woke
in your world of memories and dreams
only hearing the words i spoke
smoother than the water filling the streams

with every sunrise
our story begins anew
a tale of the emotions behind our eyes
no matter the tale at the end, i am always holding you

you will no more wake in fright
i will shelter you from the harms
and now you soundly sleep away the night
held tightly within my arms
