Wise Words, by hanah

My grandma when she was growing old
Said inside every person a tale is told.
So then I ask her "what do you see
When you look inside of me?"
She said:
I used to see you never alone,
With love and sympathy in every bone.
But then I see the child of late
Full of anger, full of hate.
You wish to die, but you have to know
Nothing will change if you try but fail to go.
*********
A few weeks later my grandma died
Nearly all her family were by her side
All but one stood there in gloom
For I was in another room.
You see I tried to kill myself that day,
I wanted the pain to go away.
I was sick and tired of feeling low,
I just wanted it all to go.
I thought over and over what my grandma said
And deep down I still wished it was me, not her that was
dead.

This poem is about when my gran died. She meant the world to me and it broke my heart when she passed. Everything in this poem is the truth. |
