Racing down the path Chasing the figure ahead I stare trying to clear my blurry vision The tears streaming down my face Sting my cuts and I breathe unsteadily Running is a hassle Inhale, exhale Inhale, exhale I keep breathing heavily I can hear the sound of my breathe as it escapes my mouth I am terrified that I won’t catch up with the person further on Staring up at the cloud filled sky The earth is enveloped in dark blue and rain starts to fall Rain mixes with the dirt turning it into mud I keep running and running Knowing I will never catch up I fall onto my knees Mud splashes up as my body it’s the ground I lay down on my back Wanting to drown
