Mirror, by Invisible Poet
|
What do I see when i look into the mirror?
I see a boy just there, not quite yet a man,
I seek no lies, of truth I have no fear
I see the crystals of time blowing away like sand
When i look into a mirror hanging there
i see eyes the color of night
i see a face staring blankly back, not perfect yet fair
i see a soldier looking for his next fight
even as the mirror shatters with age
my reflection does not change in the slightest
i stare at the broken pieces like animal set free of cage
remembering when my days were yet at there brightest
i see my fathers face staring at me with disgust
i see his visage soften and fade away
the edges of this glass appear to hold rust
where the tears have eaten at the metal day after day
When i look into this Mirror
I see more than myself, I see everyone else i hold so dear
