In A Time Before, by Don't build lies on ice cubes.
|
There used to be a time
Before the internet stole my ideas
It stole my imagination
And let me see my fears
There used to be a time
When people simply were allowed to forget
Allowed to move on in ignorance
To not live overwhelmed with regret
There was a time before
When photos of lovers gone could burn in flame
A computer couldn't recall a face
It couldn't even recall a name
There was a time before
When you would never see the new
Couldn't see what there was to compare
Didn't know who stood in the place of you
I'm pretty sure that there was a time
That was better than living as we are
Now we dive to the past in a second
And see the future from afar
I'm in fact certain there was a time
When ex's were whispers lingering on memories
New loves and friends were simply unknown
But now knowledge of others has become the tease
So if this mystical time before existed once
I'd prefer to live in that time
So I could move forward instead of time-travelling
That's my idea of sublime. |
