"Wait on me," was His gentle command
"For you cannot fathom the depth of my plan."
"I know what you need, I created your heart"
"The blessing already received are only in part."
 
I grumbled and whined and begged for my way
In my human mind I could not wait a day
I pouted and sulked and tried to move faster
All the while forgetting just who was the Master.
 
He patiently waited for me to conceed
To surrender my will and wait for his lead
He consistently called me and drew me to Him
Waiting for my planning to stop so His could begin. 
 
Finally, all my efforts fell apart at the seams
I was torn and broken by my own shattered dreams. 
I cried to out to God, asking him "why?"
"You denied me control" was His simple reply.
 
I wanted to argue and plead for my case
But all my words fled as I gazed on His face
The great love in his eyes brought me to tears
His caring voice calmed my every fear
 
"I love you, my child. But you must understand"
"There is no peace or joy apart from my plan"
"If you choose to rely on my faithful provision"
"My promise is all that you need will be given."
 
"Your dreams and your plans may not be mine"
"But I have something far greater in mind."
"My child, you'll learn. Just watch and you'll see."
"It is well worth the wait when you're waiting on me."
