It’s Called Closure by Diana Bates
Dear John,
It was on a day like this,
Where I would take a brisk walk out the door.
I would travel not too far,
Yet my soul would yearn for something more.
It was on a night like this,
I would stand out in the rain and snow.
I would look up helplessly into the sky,
And wonder where you are now.
It was then,
Where I would innocently sit on the rock.
The one where i would sit on
And dream of the day my heart would finally unlock.
It was here,
Where'd I'd close my eyes and see you there.
It was back then in where i couldn't forgive you,
or myself either.
For because of you leaving,
The waters ran deep,
Burning my skin further.
It was because of your words,
My wounds lied open,
And bled even deeper.
It was what you were,
That I could not leave for goodness sake.
It were the promises I made,
That were hard to break.
But i learned that,
I now must take a different road way.
We're in two different worlds now,
I never thought i would have seen the day.
Do you still think back,
To when i wore my gray dress.
Do you think back,
To even that last snow kiss.
Do you think back,
To those times we've shared?
The laughs we had,
And we didn't mind how we looked?
Do you remember,
That kiss in the rain?
Do you remember when i held you,
as you walked when you were in pain?
For the longest time,
I felt angry with this broken heart.
For the longest time,
I've lived with our life being torn apart.
But today,
I finally faced the fact.
In that we all make mistakes,
And we can't go back.
We learn from the past,
And make a brighter future.
Like children we played in the penn,
But now we can walk even further.
John.
I hope you're smiling now,
And I hope i've changed your life.
You were a great friend,
Yet lived through much strife.
But even so,
I finally learned to smile.
And this time I'm gonna make it,
Last longer than a while.
Now my world,
Is finally at peace with itself.
I have finally learned to forgive you,
And even myself.
And even though,
You've got a girl now.
If you ever need a hand,
I'll be there no matter how.
Because when I gave you a circle,
Not a given heart.
Oh you've got many hearts from many girls,
But to trust them is not so smart.
Why, you may ask,
Did i give you a circle and not a heart?
I answer, in reply,
"Because hearts always break but circles can never be torn
apart."
Circles go on forever,
And so will our memories. Though,
You're torn to ashes,
It's a little thing called closure... |
