Midnight Chat, by Markuz
|
sheltered in darkness
with only the glow
of a monitor's face
and a lonely soul
undesperately lonesome
with a smile for two
sitting at the keyboard
just waiting...
but for who?
rarely was i joined
by the joy of a bell
and the flash of a window;
just a solitary hell
so i sit and wait
and wait and pray
and hope that someone
will make my day
but i really just sit
and blankly stare
at the names of the people
who are and aren't there
and i listen to ballads
of romance and love
and, in darkness, alone
i stand up and dance
and then one day
a bell and flash
on the screen
----------------
i was quite happy
but who could it be?
a friend of a friend
who came upon me
we started to talk
quite casually
and on we talked
about nothing much
family & friends
school & such
but much time had passed
and the night grew quite long
and then it was time
for our talk to be done
we said our goodnights
in the cover of moon
saying only "goodbye,
hope to talk to you soon"
