A Lovely Sickness, by Auden
|
My lovely, there you are standing,
You are so sweet, too sweet for me.
You make me sick but I still come
back for more again and again.
You are the sweetness that I don't deserve,
That I feel I should walk away from
I am nearly never sweet to you, only sour
making you pucker your face in disliking.
I am stupid for the pain I return to,
The pain the I get for loving the sweet.
When I leave you I get a craving for you,
A craving that always says "I want more".
