LOST MEMORIES

I wonder what, in truth, I dreamt
Before we met; whilst still a child
Pursuing deeds that were but meant
To fill the time before love smiled,
And all the joy that I found then
Was nought till I met you.

And so, when on my porch again
Reflecting on my past I find
Embedded deeply in my brain
Your image, clearly in my mind
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
Again to dance with you.

All musings throughout time have been
A source of joy, something serene.
To cherish my volum'nous store
Of memories, who could want more?
Those memories of you?

Now as I age I ponder on
Eternity, when I'll be gone
Saddened by the thought that I
May reminisce no more.
