The Lighthouse She stands alone on the rocky shore Sending a beam across the wave Listening for distress amidst the ocean's roar Looking for a lost seaman she may save For the fragile craft of man Is no match for the angry sea She will send her beam to scan As long as they let her be She stands alone on the rocky shore No lightkeeper walks her spiral stairs Lightkeepers were in the days of yore Now she alone is the one who cares Technology sends her beam far and wide And blows the fog horn to call her ships to shore Should the waves be too high that they ride Fog horn blasts will be in groups of four Whitecaps crash the rocks on which she stands And reach up to pound her weathered form This lighthouse though not human understands This is an unusually wicked storm She stands alone on the rocky shore A silhouette against the foggy sky Four fog horn blasts o're the ocean roar And rescue beams so no one has to die Turbulence abounds across the briny deep Mile high waves crash against the rocky shore Like an angry sea witch awakened from her sleep Determined to win this watery war All night long the war raged on Then spent, that sea witch whore A peaceful scene come the dawn She stands alone on the rocky shore A job well done and no one had to die She's standing proud on the rocky shore Sea birds flying o're the ocean high And no ships lie sunken on the ocean floor.
