My Secret Garden, by Lunaria

My Secret Garden
There's a gate hidden behind the hedge
Only I have the key
It's hidden high up on a ledge
The garden belongs to me
Inside are roses of every hue
White, pink, red and yellow
Then we have one whoes color is new
It's calm and soft and mellow
There are trees and vines of many kinds
The Oak , big and strong
The Ivy that winds
The Apple that drops her fruit for a song
The Juniper, Elm and Cherry tree
The Maple who gives syrup in the spring
Of evergreens there are three
They all draw birds on the wing
O're the wall the birds do fly
To nest in the tree of their choice
They chirp and sing 'til twilight is nigh
And I add my melodious voice
The grass is cool beneath my feet
The warm winds blow through my hair
The sun doesn't give off too much heat
My favorite place to be is there
Many other flowers I've also got
White Daisys and Johnny Jump Ups
Lots and lots of Forget Me Not
And beautiful, yellow Butter Cups
Black Eyed Susans I have galore
And Tulips around the water fall
They all dot the garden floor
It's the prettiest place of all
Yes I love my secret garden place
Only I have the key
I go there often to hide my face
And my garden belongs to me.
