Secrets
In the wee hours
Before the morning light
I listened to the flowers
Speak of the Earth so bright

Before they should awake
Before the rising sun
The moon across the lake
Tells them morning has begun

They speak of Earth born anew
Out of old Earth's body shell
I didn't think they had a clue
Who would the flowers tell

Secrets that even humans do not know
I couldn't comprehend
I heard them speaking low
That old Earth has to end

I listened with great intent
To everything they said
I wanted more. Now that my ear was bent
Excited to know what lay ahead

By now the sun was shining bright
Every flower turned it's head
To greet the sun with much delight
And I went home to bed

For I am a Night Owl, you see
I listen to nature speak
During the day I sleep in a tree
At night I am unique.
