Yellow Roses, by Lunaria
|
Yellow Roses
They were delivered in morning rain
Water droplets formed on the petals soft
The air carried a familiar refrain
From where Eagles are soaring aloft
I heard the endless refrain
Repeating and repeating
As it entered my brain
Causing my heart rapid beating
Goodbye, it said, goodbye
I don't love you anymore
Naturally causing me to cry
As I heard the slamming of the door
I know what yellow roses mean
The message is loud and clear
They are sent to avert a scene
And the message all do hear
Their fragrance is so sweet
Their message is so cruel
Their petals fall at my feet
I've been such a fool.
