A promise Of Spring

A Promise of Spring 'Neath frozen earth Covered with blankets of white Waiting for birth Are seeds wanting sun's light To warm their bodies now asleep Warmth to melt the cold That has reached them deep Denying them to unfold How long must they slumber 'Neath this cold dirt? 'Til they no longer cumber And upwards spurt To the light, to the sun Reaching ever up to the sky It has not yet begun But it shall happen by and by. Copyright © 2004 Lunaria (Lila May Guptill)
