Fear, by Lunaria

Fear
What reason is there for my life on earth?
What test must I pass. What lesson must I learn?
So far there hasn't been joy. Where is the mirth?
Oh, so happy was I beyond this realm. I yearn
To play again among the stars so bright
Now I must rely on other's joyous laughter
My only recourse is to gaze up at night
And pray I will be good forever after
I endeavor to obey the rule
By my thinking I am too sober
I am intelligent, not much of a fool
Underlying my question, "why am I here"?
Is a deep, hidden, subconscious feeling
That I will never leave. That is my fear.
