The Dream, by Lunaria
|
The Dream
The sleepy sun has gone to bed.
Shades of darkness cover the land.
I, too, lay down my sleepy head.
And dream a dream so grand.
Rising up from my sleeping shell
I am dressed in gossamer thread
A beauty am I and too wondrous to tell
Tonight I am to be wed.
I see him there
With raven hair
And raven eyes
That hypnotize
He sees me too
With eyes so blue
My hair is curled
My arms unfurled
He floats to my arms
That wrap around him
He has all the charms
That will never dim
A hush falls over all
Angels line up on each side
Far away mourning doves call
As down the isle we glide
We say our vows to love one another
Before a being in bejeweled robe and crown
All around us is our sister and brother
And beings of wealth and renown
We roll down the hill
And laugh and have fun
All becomes still
The evening is done
But before I awaken to the world below
I vow a vow to myself
I say: ''Til bells don't chime
'Til nothing will rhyme
'Til time stands still
I'll love him, I will"
And I open my eyes to the bright , shining sun
And remember the wonderful dream
Another earth day has begun
Happier though it does seem.
