The Portal, by Lunaria
|
The Portal
When evening is spread out in the sky
And the deepest nightfall is nigh
When velvet blackness covers all
And there are no stars or full moon ball
When there's no wind to blow 'til morning light
And there is stillness all through the night
When not a sound can be heard
And nothing at all is ever stirred
Then I may sleep on my downy bed
A sleep so sound as though I'm dead
Be not dismayed if my leave I take
If I should die before I wake
Nay, not die. It would never be
For I would not do that to thee
When I leave I'll be fully awake
And it shall be daytime for heaven's sake
A portal shall appear before me in midday
And I shall step through it in my own way
I shall wave and blow a kiss. Adieu, adieu
For I shall be made a person new.
