The Beach Bum, by Lunaria
|
Walking slowly along the shore
His feet sinking into the wet sand
There were no people he'd have to ignore
That's the way it was planned
Leaving his wife in Kansas six months ago
Traveling to California, his home
Kansas made him depressed and low
In California he would forever roam
He came home to start his life over
He'd made a terrible mistake
Now home, he'd be rolling in clover
A new life for himself he'd make
Here in California he was a success
But he married and lost everything
Now he's back to undo the mess
He never should have given her a ring
Well now he's free to start again
Or to lay in the sun and bake
He wants his life to be the way it was then
Before he ate wedding cake
But alas, he's still walks along the shore
And lays on the hot white sand
He doesn't want to do anymore
Will someone give him a hand?
The blue/green water and azure sky
The crashing sound of the wave
Billowing clouds floating by
And something more he does crave
'Puff' the magic dragon that lives by the shore
And 'Lucy' in the sky with diamonds, ya
Without them he is such a bore
With them he can relax and dream, ah
This is the life of a reptilian in human form
He's not happy on planet earth
He'll be glad for the coming storm
So he can have a new birth.
