My Fairy Love

My Fairy Love As darkness falls And day turns into night Shadows play upon my walls Amid the candle light I sit before the fire That flickers merrily And play upon my lyre But I play so wearily Soon I am in slumber Before the flickering flame I just cannot cumber Sleepys' my middle name While I'm in dreamland deep I meet my fairy love She always comes when I sleep Her wings are like the dove But ever so fragile And like a spider's web Ever so thin and agile Like the tide does ebb Her hair is long and flowing And the color of the sky Her eyes have a knowing She never questions why We fly high above the trees And over green, green hills Across the open seas And over rocks and rills We settle in the tall, green grass And hold each other tight I love her so, my fairy lass Then she with wings takes flight Goodbye my fairy love I'll see you another night When there's a moon above Then we will take flight I awaken in my darkened room My candle wick burned out Anxious for day to resume So night can come about.
