The Cave, by Lunaria
|
The Cave
They traveled the dusty road many days
Stopping only to let the mule graze
And the woman to dismount and rest
The journey was long and she was stressed
Her blue eyes were often full of tears
The beautiful face strained beyond her years
Hair pulled up in a bun to keep her cool
Often she would whisper to the mule
What she said to him no one knows
But oft he would stop so she could repose
Many inns were passed with a 'NO VACANCY' sign
Off in the distance a cave with animals of every kind
There they entered, she laid on the straw
And brought forth the most beautiful babe you ever saw.
