Flames Of Desire

RSS

By Don't build lies on ice cubes.

Hidden nostalgia surfaces without warning Memories of film engaged in the mind A spark to the flame ignites in a moment And lamented thoughts prove cruel and unkind A word uttered in an amiable tone Suggestive and playful; yet harmless Fuel the flames which refuse to die out In one word that was effectively careless Dream that the heart was unable to burn Then when the flames flicker slight Stand tall, lone, and free from pain Instead they cause one to lie burnt throught the night Falling at the faintest quiver But who can leave a fire Unattended. It breeds and consumes The natural torment that is desire Yearning for what could have been The flames suffocate an arsonist Even when they are forced under control Remain immobilized in a smoking mist And to stay tableau in a frame Whilst the impending heat one can not bear If one is not killed by these severe burns They shall suffocate from the consequential despair
