The Buds Of Spring, by Lunaria
|
The Buds Of Spring
Fairies of the trees and bush
Awakening to the warm
Soon will begin to push
Sap through their form
Baby blankets of snow
Dirty, need to be washed away
Here, there, everywhere you go
Soon to be removed now any day
They are needed for awhile
To keep earth warm, dirty though they be
Soon, when the sun does smile
They will go, you'll see
Then will the sap run
Causing little buds to appear
Warmed by the noonday sun
It will happen. Do not fear
'Tis the last of winter, my friend
A few more weeks, if that
It's almost over, It has to end
So take off your winter hat
I can almost smell the warm, moist earth
And imagine seeds as they gestate
Mother is bringing a new spring to birth
Oh, I can hardly wait
